It's sounding a lot like when they said they wanted a king instead of a judge...

The people of today want someone else to make all their decisions for them, tell them how to act, what to do with their money...

Seriously what is wrong with people, are their blinders so big?

LaurieBee-you are right. it's called the "Me" generation & it's prevalent among adults and alarmingly viral among youth and young adults. This not only affects your Relief Society and the church, but can also be easily seen in the political arena today, where Americans seem to want government to take care of them and provide them with their desires. (I said desires, not needs). And thus they become slothful and lazy and an idolatrous people. Signs of the times. Signs of the times.

I've noticed that over the last few years it seems to be "okay" not to take responsibility for your own actions and to rely on the good graces of others to take care of you. More and more people have no idea what it means to be self-reliant. They want things handed to them on a silver platter -- and then they want you to wash the platter.

Maybe I'm just noticing this more now because I'm a Relief Society President who has to deal with everyone else's problems. But I don't think so. I really think people seem to have lost the concept of getting things through hard work and determination. They want everyone else to solve all their problems for them. I've come to my own conclusion that Satan really doesn't want us to be self-reliant. He wants us to be dependent on others. Heavenly Father, however, is happy when we work hard and strive to do the right thing.

I loved it! Full of principles and GA quotes. All makes for a great, enlightening, and encouraging talk, even for someone who is still somewhat of a young adult. It makes me motivated to prepare for my future family :D

I just realized something about the Creation. Before Adam fell the Earth and Garden of Eden was in a perfect state. After they left the Garden did the Earth become a terrestrial state, like it is now. During that celestial state, and I assume the stages of Creation up until the Fall, plants most likely did not need water to survive, so it can be assumed that since the waters were created after the plants, the system that sustained them was a more celestial system, and not water/chlorophyll as we know today. Perhaps.

One thing I failed to mention yesterday regarding this. I referenced Elder Milton R. Hunter's work entitled "Pearl of Great Price Commentary." It isnt' set up as a verse-by-verse commentary, but rather in a storyline. However, it does compare the account of the creation in Abraham to that in Moses verse-by-verse. I'm sure there are more resources out there on this subject.

You make a good observation that the plants and herbs were created before the water. That makes one wonder then, how the "grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree" could have been created and survived if it was not for water.

The plot thickens!!

This is what I think (believe). No, I don't have a reference to back it up. But once sealed to someone then everyone sealed to you or them are then sealed to each other. That's why the sealing ordinance is so important. Things to get a bit foggy in [humanity's] imperfection though. I'm sealed to my husband. His mom and dad were sealed in the temple, but divorced and excommunicated. His Dad since then has been sealed to his 2nd spouse. Would that sealing still count? I would think it should count for the kids because obviously they did nothing to break that covenant. Pretend that is true. So that would mean because Sam is sealed to his brothers I would also be sealed to them as a sister(in-law). That's one oft those eternal things I have to take on faith though. I don't know how my family will resolve itself in the eternities (being a convert and having my parents divorced, and no they're not members), but I can do my best to try to do all the work I can and try to proclaim the gospel to them.

I too had one of those laminated cards, and it's toast. You can't even read all of it. I was excited to find this download, but when I pulled up the word doc all of the pages are blank? Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks for any input.
