This not only affects your Relief Society and the church, but can also be easily seen in the political arena today, where Americans seem to want government to take care of them and provide them with their desires. (I said desires, not needs). And thus they become slothful and lazy and an idolatrous people. Signs of the times. Signs of the times. More and more people have no idea what it means to be self-reliant. They want things handed to them on a silver platter -- and then they want you to wash the platter. Maybe I'm just noticing this more now because I'm a Relief Society President who has to deal with everyone else's problems. But I don't think so. I really think people seem to have lost the concept of getting things through hard work and determination. They want everyone else to solve all their problems for them. I've come to my own conclusion that Satan really doesn't want us to be self-reliant. He wants us to be dependent on others. Heavenly Father, however, is happy when we work hard and strive to do the right thing.
